Connecting your own domain (DNS settings)

Updated 15-10-2026

Custom domains are available on every paid plan. You keep your domain with your registrar; you only change two DNS records.

Step 1: add the domain in Merci Sites

Open your site in the dashboard, go to Domain, and enter your domain without "www" (for example, shreejisarees.in).

Step 2: add these records at your registrar

Log in where you bought the domain (GoDaddy, Hostinger, BigRock, Namecheap, Cloudflare and so on), open DNS management and add:

  • Type A, Host/Name @, Value 137.23.47.134
  • Type A, Host/Name www, Value 137.23.47.134

If an A record for @ or www already exists, edit it instead of adding a second one. If you use Cloudflare, set these records to "DNS only" (grey cloud) until the certificate is issued.

Do not change MX records; they control your e-mail.

Step 3: wait for the green tick

DNS changes usually show up within an hour, sometimes longer. The Domain page checks automatically and shows the status live. Once your domain points to us, we issue a free SSL certificate and the domain becomes active, for both the www and non-www versions.

Troubleshooting

  • Still pending after a day? Check for a typo in the IP address, or an old AAAA (IPv6) record that points elsewhere; remove it.
  • Certificate failed? Usually a record changed during issuance. Press Check again after fixing the records.
